Returning this ASAP. I'm not sure this even qualifies as a "book". I have a feeling the good reviews are from people who received it for free to write a glowing review or other shills. If you're interested in purchasing an informal blog-esque pamphlet on real estate, this may be appropriate. If you're after a book with valuable content, look elsewhere.
Most guides to real estate success focus on how to start being successful when you've received your license. In this short (56 pages), cogent, focused guide, Florida real estate broker Katherine Scarim tells real estate novices the practical steps they can and should take to "jump start [their] future real estate career before they're licensed, even while they they may still be studying for the exam. The author begins with an important disclaimer: "...It is illegal to practice real estate without a license." Her suggestions are aimed to "allow you to start gaining knowledge and mapping out your future real estate business—not to have you begin your career prior to licensure.â€Scarim urges readers to get started on tasks they will need to do when they’re licensed: 1. Start conducting market research. 2. Nurture and build your fiture client base. Decide on the fundamaentals of your future business (including the specific criteria to use in choosing a brokerage with which to hang your future license). 4. Meet with an account to clarify how to handle your business expenses from the start. Plan your market strategy. Decide how to brand yourself as a real estate pro. For instance, choose one adjectice (examples: Competent; Professional; Trustworthy, Ethical, Approachable), make sure all your future marketing efforts reinforce your brand/identity.Scarim closes with these encouraging words: “Please, use your pre-licensure time to the fullest. Take control of your future. And once you obtain your license—hit the ground running!"
Short. Simple. Too the point. I'm working on getting my real estate license as of now. I have read a few books geared towards new agents and all of them are way sharky. This book made me breathe a sigh of relief and gave me some insight on what to expect and what to look for when I am finally licensed. What really stuck out to the most was on how to find a brokerage; look for something that suites you and who you are. Never thought of it that way, but it makes sense. It's how I feel about any other job I worked. Anyways, worth the $3.
This is an honest book with honest tips for the new agent who has just begun their training. I've been in sales in and out of the retail environment for over twenty years, and knew it was time for a change. I'm reading several books while I am completing my training, and they have the most lofty goals....make a million your first year! How to have 85 people at each open house! How to ace your exam! BUT this book is all about building YOUR brand before you hang your licence. It's a quick read. I've read it twice now, starting a business plan the second time around. I know I will be referencing this again and again. For its price, it's a must read for the business.
Being 27 and just about to get my license, the world of real estate is vast, competitive, and complex. One can't help but feel like their drowning with information overload, and I needed a concise explanation of what it takes to make some practical, and very smart decisions before launching my new career. This book by Katherine Scarim was the perfect quick read for just that.Without going into details, Katherine helps you face the reality of being a realtor from the get-go, and what you could do now (even before being licensed, as the title suggests) to set yourself up for success. The thirteen pointers are clearly explained, and are definitely on my to-do list as they are reasonable and very tactful. It'll only take you maybe an hour or two to read the book, but the knowledge it contains is refreshing and very well addressed.I highly recommend this one if you need some solid tips to set yourself success in real estate.
Love Love Love!!!! Short n sweet to the point gems given with a little sense of humor & real life questions that should be asked without the extra BS.I just started my course 2 days ago and everything she points out in the book are definitely things that I had not considered.Thank you Katherine for taking your time 2 point out the immediate necessaries to starting a career in real estate.
This is such a practical read. The author is straight to the point and gives great advice. As a mom studying to get my real estate license, this was a quick and easy read. It's like picking the brain of an experienced real estate agent and gives a step by step of the real estate process. You get a good feel for the things you need to know and things you didn't even think to think about. Great read!
I am currently in what I hope to be my last year of teaching. I haven't reached retirement age by far, I'm just so tired of the unequal work to pay ratio. I want to pursue a career in real estate but have some months before I can actually throw my hat in the arena.Enter this book. This book has given me a "to-do" list to aid in my future pursuits in the mean time. I wanted to do this anyway, but I did not know where to start. I didn't know what I needed to know! Now I do.Thank you Katherine for this short but inspiring book (that I have read on my planning periods)!
